But he sent an email to Instapundit:
It's apparent that the insurgents are getting better and better at what they do. It's becoming a race between getting the ISF/government on its own steam faster than the insurgents are able to improve. It's imperative to keep people at home from running out and leaving unfinished business. Otherwise, we will simply be teaching terrorists that terrorism pays.
That's discouraging.
An aside to a frequent commenter: Yes ernie, I know, you've been telling me that we were going to lose the war for 3 weeks now. But you seem to get all your information from either the New York Times or liberal ranting, so forgive me if I don't consider you an expert on something going on 3,000 miles away. This guy is actually there observing, something the New York Times or the Associated Press don't seem to be able to do.
Plus you seem to want us to lose, which makes me discount what you say...

its not that i “want us to lose”, i just call it as i see it, like i thought before the invasion that bush was lying and that this was going to be a disaster. i just call it as i see it, thus far im right and pro-war people are wrong. maybe iraq will turn into flowers and joy someday, but i doubt it, probably not til the US leaves, at least.
now i would like to see militarist culture be discreditied, and the jingoist, xenophobic culture that goes along with it…yes i do want to see RAmbo America fail before they destroy the planet, the children are relying on it.
but yes, america will just be bled dry in iraq, financially, morally, and militarily. did you see Bushs speech? good god.

Or rather, not losing. I’m not sure we want to “win” we just want to leave Iraq with a decent chance of becoming a true Middle Eastern democracy. I think we both agree that the US has to leave, only the Iraqis can fix their country, but we have to leave in the right way at the right time.
The real mistake Bush made in this war was thinking we wouldn’t have to nation build afterwards. Then again, with Iran going off the deep end, we really needed a military base in the middle of the Middle East…
I dunno.

And no I didn’t see his speech, I can’t stand to watch him talk, he’s got to be one of the worst public speakers imaginable, he couldn’t sell ice cubes in hell. I always read a transcript instead.
