Karl Rove's Magic Powers

So Karl Rove supposedly said some mean things about Liberals.

Except, if you read the full context he didn't really, he said mean things about MoveOn. Hat Tip: Red State

I mean, I can say mean things about MoveOn as well, because frankly, George Soros is the enemy of all that is good and pure in the world. This is a man who became a Billionaire, with a B, by stealing money from the third world.

You think Cheney is bad? Cheney is a piker compared to George Soros.

But he tosses more money then Cheney has made in his life at some hippies to fund MoveOn, and suddenly, he can do no wrong?

Meanwhile, even Instapundit is crediting Karl Rove with mystical powers. Somehow he knew that:

  1. The Liberals would be dumb enough to jump all over him, thereby letting everyone trot out all those stupid things various people said post 9/11.

  2. Whatever he said would be picked up immediately, unlike Durbin, so the timing would be perfect.

I don't buy it. Rove was saying that stuff at a meeting of the Conservative Party of New York. Of course he was going to trash the liberals at a fund raiser! I'm going to share a joke I've heard at both Democratic and Republican party fundraisers:

Democratic VersionRepublican Version
So this guy is hitchhiking through the Midwest. This pickup truck stops for him and the guy says “Are you a Republican or a Democrat?” The hitchhiker says “Democrat” and the guy says “Get out of my truck”.

The next guy who picks him up asks the same question, but this time the hitchhiker says “Republican”. Well, they keep driving and pretty soon they come to this field of watermelons and the guy stops. He says get out, we're going to steal us some watermelons. The hitchhiker demurrs, but the driver says “you said you were a Republican didn't ya”. So they get out and start loading watermelons into the back of the truck. Meanwhile, a farmer comes running out of the house and starts shooting. The driver takes off, but the hitchhiker gets caught on the barbed wire. The farmer runs up to him and the the hitchhiker jumps up and says don't shoot I've only been a Republican for five minutes.

So this guy is hitchhiking through the South. This Mercedes stops for him and the guy says “Are you a Republican or a Democrat?” The hitchhiker says “Republican” and the guy says “Get out of my car”.

The next guy who picks him up asks the same question, but this time the hitchhiker says “Democrat”. Well, they keep driving and pretty soon they come to this field of watermelons and the guy stops. He says get out, we're going to steal us some watermelons. The hitchhiker demurrs, but the driver says “you said you were a Democrat didn't ya”. So they get out and start loading watermelons into the trunk. Meanwhile, a farmer comes running out of the house and starts shooting. The driver takes off, but the hitchhiker gets caught on the barbed wire. The farmer runs up to him and the the hitchhiker jumps up and says don't shoot I've only been a Democrat for five minutes.

So those of you who are on the left can froth at the mouth if you want, and those of you on the right can think “Gee, Rove is so wily. Look at those Democrats go! The fools!”. Personally, I think you should relax. Nobody ever says “Those other guys aren't so bad” at a fundraiser. If Karl Rove was really that wily, we would have heard of him long before he became Bush's political advisor...for creating peace in the Middle East or something...

Comments

Harl Rove has a long history of throwing mud and attacking ones character, just ask John McCain.

I think Roves comments are detrimental to the Bush admin. I dont think Durbin should have apologized, but the fact that he did will show the difference between those who are able to express regret, and those who think they are infalliable.

I mean, look at durbins remarks, they are logical. he didnt say US soldiers were nazis, he said the FBI report contained the essence of abuses…I.e. if durbin would have said “if you didnt know this report was from an fbi agent, you would think it was a descpription of a pack of kindergarten teachers!” huh? torturing people, chaining people up making them crap on themselves? kindergarten teachers? it would make no sense. but by using the nazi, pol pot metaphor, it does make sense. The USA cannot defend holy liberty, freedom, goodness, jesus, etc, by torturing poeple.

Well, I think that’s a good example of rhetorical inflation to call that stuff torture. Read the interview with the Gitmo interrorgator here . Doing stuff like chaining people up to make them crap on themselves just pisses them off. (Literally)

There’s nothing in the Geneva conventions that says you have to treat people in your prision like its a four star hotel, and a lot of the things that have been called torture would make my last camping trip be called hell on earth. Mark Steyn had a funny piece on it a week ago…

Like most people, I have concerns about Gitmo. But if the constant rhetorical inflation by the activists keeps wasting my time as I dig into allegation after allegation only to find smoke without fire, eventually I’m just going to tune out the activists.

i dont think the point is really if WE think it is torture, it is if the arab world thinks it is torture or overall inhumane treatment to arab captives. This is a pr war as it is a military war. If the goal is to settle down the region, then we must be sympatehtic to arab views. if we really dont care and have the “kill em all” attitude, then pr doesnt matter.

That’s a reasonable point, but what bugs me is the headlines that say “torture”, then you read the article and it says “forced to listen to Christina Aguilera…”. So its our media that bugs me with their zeroing in on only the most outrageous statements…

well, being forced to listen to christina aguilara may not be actually torture, but it does come close.

real torture will not come to light however. just like the congressional delgation that just went to gitmo…i mean come on, this will prove nothing.

how about jose padilla? remember him? A US citizen, disappeared a few years back, no due process, no public trail, no public charges…just gone…..

a US citizen! does this not mean the Constitution has been overthrown? and nobody knows how to care..thisis sad…at least we are safe?

and as for Karl Rove…this is interesting, i mean, how does one apply virtuous sentiment to him? really, how is the archetypical virtue freedom loving citizen applied to this liar, character assassinator, chickenhawk? I mean really, the guy looks like an out of shape pig who ate paste as a kid and made a career of power for himself by being a slanderous, misanthropic screwball. this is virue? this is republican virtue? to be a liar and slanderer, telling racist south carolina that john mccain abandoned his fellow troops, his wife is a drug addcit, and he has a black baby? this is virtue? is winning at any cost virtue? this is decadence!

this is the main reason why i support demos over repubs (even though i really despise each) the repubs think that slander is great, they are truly the adaptive hydra. they claim a monopoly on morals, then slander everyone with hateful sentiment. look at sean hannity, ann coulter, rush limbaugh, mike savage…they claim to represent the “good and god” but they are outwardly disgusting, hateful, vengeful, and intolerant. it is amazing how this works. Rove is a genius because he knows much of america is enthralled in hateful resentment, he knows how to pull the emotional strings of the crushed mass (just like goebbels).

in the 2004 election Bush, an AWOL national guard cocaine brat was able to slander kerry about vietnam service. amazing, and america went for it.

this america cant last..remember, the fascist germans in the 30s thought hitler was doing their country great too, until the allies started carpet bombing their cities, then the bovine mass folk realized they had been had…hopefully we figure this out a bit sooner.

So you’re comparing Bush to Hitler, yet you think only the republicans slander? Come on!

Karl Rove reminds me of the guy on West Wing who is the legislative guy. Karl Rove is Bush’s pit bull, sure. But politics has always been a blood sport in this country, and whining about it just makes you look weak…

Anyways, the original point of this post was just that Karl Rove has been built up by the Democrats to be this super-evil-genius, and I wonder if its really true, or if the Democrats just have this magic ability to shoot themselves in the foot.

From martial arts, I know that if you can keep your center while making your opponent lose theirs, you’ll always win…

no, im not comparing hitler to Bush, Hitler was intelligent, Bush is not. Hitler was in charge, Bush is not. Hitler wrote a big book, Bush doesnt read.

But i am comparing the deluded American people to the crushed mass of 1930s Germany, crying out for a holy leader to redeem them from their anxiety.

No, Rove isnt a genius, he is just disgusting. Now I sort of agree with the “whining” thing. I think if Kerry had added the side note to Bush in those debates of…” Listen Jackass, the next time your retard self or your friends ever imply im unpatrioitic and a liar i will meet you outside and whip all that cynical resentment out of you” he would have won the presidency…because that where UFC Rambo america is at.

But see, im not a whining democrat. when i meet a good conservative in public who is spreading hateful little-man resentment i call their bluff and expose them. it aint very hard. i like some conservatives, those of the libertarian slant, but they usually get befuddled when trying to rationalize economic dominance and liberty.

Also, that chinook helicopter that just got shot down…did you ever see, rambo 3, where rambo is in afghnaistan shooting down big soviet helicopters with the mujahadeen? they used rpgs too. irony? haha, yes it used to be patriotic to arm islamic fundamentalist kookoos during reagans tenure, but this fact has been thrown into the memory hole as well…incipit 1984!
